Program of Study

The MA degree is 12 courses (36 credits). Courses can be taken on-line, in a hybrid fashion, or residentially during the summer.

For the fully on-line track students come to campus, during the summer, for at least the 2 symposia courses and the capstone course.

Beyond the use of computers and technology for academic writing and research, online students will be expected to use the video and audio functions of a computer or iPhone to participate in online discussions or webinars. Students should also become familiar with the basic platforms used by online instructors at Notre Dame, especially the Sakai learning management system."

Required

5 of these courses are required core courses:

  • Theology of Revelation
  • Trinity & Christian Salvation
  • Ecclesiology
  • Catholic Sacraments
  • Fundamentals of Moral Theology

Electives

6 courses are electives. Examples include:

  • Roads to God 
  • Performing Beauty
  • Catholic Social Teaching
  • the Bible and the Fathers
  • and more! 

Capstone

The final course is the capstone course, completed in your final semester of coursework.
