The Notre Dame Department of Theology is renowned around the globe for its long tradition of excellence in research and teaching, including ranking No. 1 in the world by QS World University Rankings four of the past six years. This strong international reputation is due in significant part to the exceptional research accomplishments of our faculty and to a rich array of research foci that includes innovative interdisciplinary initiatives.

Interdisciplinary initiatives

Our faculty regularly convene critical conversations on key topics and questions in the field through a variety of academic conferences and events on campus or at Notre Dame’s global locations.

The 2022 Florovsky Tantur Symposium at the University of Notre Dame

Every two years, the Marten Program in Homiletics and Liturgics hosts a summer preaching conference, inviting leaders and gifted practitioners in the field of homiletics to share their insights with other preachers in the field. A vast array of resources, including books and lectures, have been generated as a result of these events, and many of them are available online for anyone to use in their efforts to develop their preaching skills.
