Patristics Lecture: Robin Jensen, "Early Christian Art as a Source for the History of Doctrine"

Robin M. Jensen is a candidate for a faculty position in Patristics. She is the Luce Chancellor’s Professor of the History of Christian Art and Worship at Vanderbilt University, where she teaches in both the Department of the History of Art and the Divinity School. Her research focuses on the theological significance and liturgical functions of early Christian art and architecture. Her most recent work has been on the lived religion of Christianity in Roman North Africa. Her research in the history of art concentrates on the religious visual culture of the Greco-Roman world. She recently completed Christianity in Roman Africa: The Development of its Practices and Belief (Eerdmans, 2014), co-authored with J. Patout Burns. Her current project, The Cross: History, Art, and Controversy, is due to be published by Harvard University Press in 2015.
