Welcome to the John S. Marten Program in Homiletics and Liturgics, housed within the Department of Theology at the University of Notre Dame.

Begun in 1983, the mission of the Marten Program is to support and enhance Roman Catholic preaching and liturgical celebration.

To that end, the Marten Program sponsors lectures, conferences, courses and workshops for Catholic seminarians, lay ministry students, priests and deacons. The
Marten Program is of particular service to the Notre Dame Master of Divinity Program, which trains seminarian candidates for the Congregation of Holy Cross and
the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit, and candidates for lay ecclesial ministry.

Please explore our site for more information about the program, our conferences, the annual Marten Lecture in Preaching, recent publications, and our new endeavor, the Rev. William A. Toohey, C.S.C. Notre Dame Preaching Academy.

May the Word of God enlighten and nourish us all!
