Joshua Jipp

Biography

Having completed his ThM at Duke Divinity School and his PhD at Emory University, Jipp taught at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School for 14 years where he also directed the Carl F. H. Henry Center for Theological Understanding. While he is interested in all aspects of the New Testament and early Christianity, the bulk of his writing and research has been focused on the Pauline Epistles, Luke and Acts, and issues pertaining to NT theology and ethics. His primary method for research is traditional in that he reads ancient texts in their original language, attentive to their literary and social dynamics, while situating them in their appropriate ancient historical and religious context. He also understands his vocational task of writing and researching as seeking to embrace larger questions regarding how the ancient Jewish and Christian Scriptures address humanity’s most important needs and questions.
