Biography
Joseph Lim is a moral and philosophical theologian. His research focuses on the practices by which individuals hold one another accountable and repair relationships after (especially racial) wrongdoing. He defended his dissertation, "Repentance and Relational Repair," in 2025. His current research focuses on (1) how repentance generates justice; (2) a novel account of forgiveness that preserves both the act's mercy and the victim's entitlement to justice; (3) the possibility of love for strangers; and (4) the distinction between justice and reconciliation as action-guiding values.
