Biography

Leo is a second-year PhD student in the History of Christianity, specializing in Greek Patristic and Byzantine theology. He plans to write a dissertation on Nicholas Cabasilas, a fourteenth-century Byzantine lay theologian. Leo's current projects include a translation of Cabasilas’ Opuscula on the Visions of Ezekiel  and an article on the reception of Cyprian of Carthage in Byzantine canon law.

Before coming to Notre Dame, Leo initially studied Chemical Engineering at UC San Diego, graduating in 2019. He then earned an MDiv from Holy Trinity Seminary in 2023 and a ThM from St. Vladimir's Seminary in 2024.

Greek Patristic and Byzantine theology; East-West relations; Asceticism; Patristic Reception; Patristic exegesis; Orthodox engagement with Augustine
