Biography
Adam Estes is a Ph.D. student in Theology with a concentration in the History of Christianity. His main research interest is early Christian theology, especially the thought and biblical exegesis of Augustine, Jerome, and Maximus the Confessor and their relevance for contemporary theology. He is also interested in the use of mathematics and number symbolism in the history of biblical exegesis, as well Christian theological engagement with science more generally. His current research projects include studies of Augustine’s preaching on predestination, the reception of Jerome’s translation of Jonah in Roman North Africa, and mathematics and music in Augustine’s soteriology.
