Theology Alumna Published

Author: Emily Hammock

Notre Dame Theology major alumna, Erin Stoyell-Mulholland, class of 2015, was published last week in the online journal Ethika Politika. The journal, published by the Center for Morality in Public Life, will publish Erin's "Struggles with Infertility among Catholics," an adaptation of her Honors thesis, as a two-part series on their website. Erin completed her thesis, "Infertility and the Catholic Church: A Pastoral Respone," during her senior year, under the advisement of Prof. Gerald McKenny.

The Theology Honors Thesis Program offers high-achieving Theology majors the opportunity to research a topic in depth, in close collaboration with a member of the faculty, and to undertake an extended writing project. Eligible juniors are invited to apply with a prospective thesis topic. Once selected, participants spend their senior year collaborating with their faculty advisor to research, write, and revise a 40-55 page thesis. Students who succeed in earning an A- or higher on their thesis receive departmental honors, recognized officially on their transcript.

Erin's thesis, as well as many other fine examples of Theology student work, can be found on display in the Theology Department Office, 130 Malloy.
