The mission of the Vatican Museums is to present, preserve and share that extraordinary legacy of culture, history, and beauty that the Roman Pontiffs have collected and preserved for centuries.

This awe-inspiring task falls to Barbara Jatta, Director of the Vatican Museums, who will virtually present the 2021 Keeley Vatican Lecture entitled, "Vatican Museums: Future Perspectives" on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 12:00 pm ET.

Reverend John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., president of the University of Notre Dame, will give the introduction.

Barbara Jatta became the director of the Vatican Museums in 2017. Prior to her appointment by Pope Francis, she served as vice-director under Antonio Paolucci and, since 1996, as curator of prints at the Vatican Library, where she organized numerous highly acclaimed exhibitions. She studied art history, archive administration, and literature at the University of Rome, and since 1994 has taught at the Suor Orsola Benincasa University in Naples.
