4:00 p.m. Colloquium with Q & A
Reception to Follow

The Department of Theology invites the Notre Dame and local communities to a colloquium on Jesus and Judaism, followed by a reception.  Prof. Paula Fredriksen of Hebrew University will speak on Jesus in his Second Temple Jewish context, in dialogue with the monumental 5-volume study of the historical Jesus (A Marginal Jew) written by Notre Dame’s Prof. John Meier.  Prof. Meier will then offer his own reflections on what he has learned (and where he has changed his mind) over the course of a career devoted to the historical Jesus.  Prof. David Berger of Yeshiva University will follow with a talk on the topic of Jewish understandings of Jesus in later periods.
