Jewish Life in the Medieval Christian and Muslim Worlds

Location: University of Notre Dame

The newly-formed Committee for Jewish Studies, together with the Department of Theology and the Medieval Institute of the University of Notre Dame, present an international conference from April 22-24, 2018, at the University of Notre Dame, on “Jewish Life in the Medieval Christian and Muslim Worlds.” The aim of this conference is to bring together experts on various aspects of Jewish existence– including history, religious thought, and cultural production– across the three major civilizations, Islamic, Byzantine, and Latin Christian, of Eurasia west of the Ti’en Shan mountains.  We hope thereby to obtain a comparative perspective concerning medieval Jewish experiences across this large portion of the world.
