Art as Spiritual Encounter: Discussion of Henri Nouwen's "The Return of the Prodigal Son"

-

Location: O'Shaughnessy West Gallery

Have you ever considered art to be a catalyst for spiritual reflection? It was for Henri Nouwen, who embarked on a life-long spiritual journey after a chance encounter with and intense look at Rembrandt’s painting The Return of the Prodigal Son. Read Nouwen’s meditation – eponymously titled The Return of the Prodigal Son - and discuss it in the Snite Museum surrounded by works by the 17th-century Dutch artist in the exhibition Rembrandt’s Religious Prints: The Feddersen Collection at the Snite Museum of Art. The discussion will be led by Dr. Leonard DeLorenzo of the McGrath Institute for Church Life. All are welcome to register; copies of the book will be distributed beforehand by the Snite Museum of Art.

This experience is co-sponsored by Campus Ministry.
