Lecture: Is the Brain Dead Patient Really Dead?

Fr. Nicanor Austriaco, O.P., is a faculty candidate for a joint position in Moral Theology / Christian Ethics in the Departments of Theology and Biology. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.E.) in  Bioengineering at the University of Pennsylvania and earned his Ph.D. in Biology from M.I.T. He was ordained a priest in May of 2004 and completed his Pontifical License in Sacred Theology (S.T.L.) in Moral Theology at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, DC, the following year. He is scheduled to defend a Doctorate in Sacred Theology (S.T.D.) in 2015. Fr. Austriaco currently serves as an Associate Professor of Biology and an Instructor of Theology at Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island. His first book, Biomedicine and Beatitude: An Introduction to Catholic Bioethics, was published by the Catholic University of America Press.
