Dr. Maria Clara Lucchetti Bingemer, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro

Maria Clara Bingemer is an associate professor of theology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for World Catholicism and Intercultural Theology at DePaul University. Formerly dean of its Center of Theology and Human Sciences, she is now vice dean of the same Center. She is also a member of the Fetzer Advisory Council (FAC) on Humanities with the Fetzer Institute in Kalamazoo, MI. In addition, from 2009-2011, she has been a member of Caritas Internationalis’ theological commission. For four years, she also served as a member of the Journal of the American Academy of Religion (JAAR) and is the former director of the Loyola Center for Faith and Culture at PUC-Rio. She holds a master’s in theology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, a PhD in systematic theology from the Pontificia Università Gregoriana in Rome, and completed post-doctoral work at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.  She is widely published in several languages and, most recently, is a contributing author of Francisco: renasce a esperança (Paulinas, 2013).
