This lecture, “‘The Locusts Have No King’: Monastic Government in the Late Fourth Century,” will be given by Robin Darling Youth, associate professor of theology at the Catholic University of America.
A reception will follow in the East Lounge of McKenna Hall.
This talk is the continuation of a yearlong colloquium on “Writing Empire: Rome and Byzantium.” It will be held throughout the academic year 2013-2014 in honor of the memory of our late colleague Sabine MacCormack.
The lecture is sponsored by the Department of Classics, the Department of History, the Department of Theology, and the Program of Liberal Studies, as well as the Notre Dame Workshop on Ancient Philosophy, the Medieval Institute, and the Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts.
