Profile

Reynolds researches Islamic Origins and Muslim/Christian relations. His dissertation, on a medieval Islamic history of Christianity, won the Field Prize at Yale and is published (2004) by EJ Brill as, A Muslim Theologian in the Sectarian Milieu: Abd al-Jabbâr and the 'Critique of Christian Origins'. His recently published articles include "Jesus, the Qa'im, and the End of the World" and "Saint Thomas' Islamic Challenges." Reynolds' current projects include research on the rediscovery of the Qur'an's narratives and a book of papers from the 2005 Notre Dame conference: "Towards a New Reading of the Qur'an?" Reynolds is a guest researcher at the Orient-Institut der Deutschen Morgenlaendischen Gesellschaft in Beirut, Lebanon and has appeared on Iranian government television to discuss Muslim-Christian relations. During the academic year 2006-7, Reynolds is conducting research on the Qur'an in Beirut, Lebanon and Notre Dame's Tantur Institute in Jerusalem.
