In memoriam: Theologian Rev. Richard P. McBrien

Rev. Richard P. McBrien, Crowley-O’Brien Professor Emeritus of Theology at the University of Notre Dame, died Sunday (Jan. 25) after a long illness. He was 78. “Father McBrien was a leading theologian and commentator on the Catholic Church,” said Rev. John I. John Templeton Foundation Awards $1.78 Million Grant for Human Distinctiveness Project

Celia Deane-Drummond, Professor of Theology, and Agustín Fuentes, Professor and Chair of the Department of Anthropology, have been awarded a $1.78 million grant by the John Templeton Foundation.  This grant, which begins in March 2015 and lasts for three years, is to promote literacy in evolutionary anthropology among theologians and to advance research at the interface of theology and anthropology.
