Non-Degree Seeking Students

Non-Degree Students

Students wishing to take courses without enrolling in the degree program are most welcome to do so as non-degree seeking students, as may prospective students wishing to complete the required pre-requisites through courses at Notre Dame, either in residence during the summer or on-line during the academic year.

Non-degree registration is simple for Summer Session. Visit the website below for the admission application and course registration at http://summersession.nd.edu/apply/, and select "Visiting Students". If you wish to take academic year courses, athe application process is different. In this case, the application is done through the Graduate School: https://gradconnect.nd.edu/apply/. (Remember to choose "departmental non-degree" in your application. This will associate you with the Theology Department in particular.) Items needed for a non-degree seeking application include: Statement of Intent, Resume, Unofficial transcripts from each post-secondary institution, and the application fee.

Remember, if you decide to apply to the MA Program after completing courses as a Non-Degree Student, course credits earned as a Non-Degree student may be applied to a degree program if and when a student is admitted to degree-seeking status (and the courses need not be applied to pre-requisite credits).
