Non-Degree Seeking Students

Non-Degree Students

Students wishing to take courses without enrolling in the degree program are most welcome to do so as non-degree seeking students, as may prospective students wishing to complete the required pre-requisites through courses at Notre Dame, either in residence during the summer or on-line during the academic year.

Non-degree registration is simple for Summer Session. Visit the website below for the admission application and course registration at, and select "Visiting Students". If you wish to take academic year courses, athe application process is different. In this case, the application is done through the Graduate School: (Remember to choose "departmental non-degree" in your application. This will associate you with the Theology Department in particular.) Items needed for a non-degree seeking application include: Statement of Intent, Resume, Unofficial transcripts from each post-secondary institution, and the application fee.

Remember, if you decide to apply to the MA Program after completing courses as a Non-Degree Student, course credits earned as a Non-Degree student may be applied to a degree program if and when a student is admitted to degree-seeking status (and the courses need not be applied to pre-requisite credits).
