Learn more about the M.Div>>>
The Master of Divinity (M.Div.) is a professional theological degree designed to prepare students for learned and effective ministry in the Roman Catholic Church. Notre Dame’s M.Div. degree program is one of the premier ministry preparation programs in North America.
A Holistic Approach
The comprehensive ministerial curriculum embraces and integrates all the Church has to offer to the student and all that the student has to offer the Church:
- A rigorous curriculum that includes studies of scripture, the history of Christian tradition, systematic theology, liturgy, and Christian ethics
- Field experience in ministry
- Spiritual formation for lay and ordained ministers
Preparing Leaders for Ministry
The story of the M.Div. degree is especially rich in detail and has a character somewhat distinct from degrees more strictly oriented toward academic careers. Some M.Div. students are preparing for the ordained ministry in the Congregation of Holy Cross. Both they and their lay classmates, men and women from around the world, engage in a process of spiritual growth on both the deeply personal and profoundly communal levels.
