The information below has been put together over the years by various members of the Theology Department and students. We hope that it is helpful.

If provided to us by the respective professors, copies of the syllabi for your courses are linked with the course descriptions online. This will allow you to read all of the required readings prior to your arrival on campus. All required books will be on Reserve.

To keep track of everything you need to do through the program, we have prepared the following checklist. As you complete each action, check it off, then move to the next step. If you need assistance at any point, please do not hesitate to contact us by telephone at 574-631-4254.

Read this publication, paying close attention to the particulars of your program (Degree or Non-degree).

Establish and verify your password with Notre Dame. This is done through “insideND” which provides convenient access to Notre Dame Web services for students, faculty, and staff. International Students: Check Visa requirements with Notre Dame’s Immigration Services Office (ISO). This office provides immigration assistance and advice to all F-1 and J-1 international students and dependents at Notre Dame. We help to educate and remind all F-1 and J-1 students about their immigration rules, responsibilities, deadlines and benefits; we process important immigration requests (for travel signatures, work authorizations, dependent documents, etc.); we offer helpful information sessions; and we produce informative publications, forms, and applications to help you maintain lawful status.

Returning Degree-seeking summer students:

  1. Degree-Seeking students must register for summer session courses using the University’s Web registration system insideND (http://inside.nd.edu). Registration is from Wednesday, March 19 through the course add and drop dates published in the Summer Bulletin.
  2. Web registration instructions are available on the Web at: http://registrar.nd.edu/registration_summer.shtml
  3. Log in with your NetID to get started. If you are unable to log in, please contact the OIT Help Desk at 574-631-8111 for assistance.
  4. Complete the summer housing application: http://summerhousing.nd.edu/
  5. Complete the meal plan application: http://food.nd.edu/mealplans/
  6. Submit proof of health insurance to the Health Center (otherwise, the University will automatically enroll you into the general student health insurance plan). Every year you must complete the “Insurance Waiver” by May 15 or you will be billed for Health Insurance at Notre Dame.

New Degree-seeking summer students:

  1. Graduate School Admissions information can be found here: http://graduateschool.nd.edu/html/admissions/index.html
    Welcome to the online application for The Graduate School at the University of Notre Dame. Apply online at >https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=nd-grad
  2. Complete the online Graduate School application by April 15 as new degree seeking student. Once your are confirmed in the system by the Graduate School, the Graduate School office will send you a letter with your 900xxxxxxxx number.
  3. Create your Notre Dame password by using insideND; you will need your 900xxxxxxxx to complete this process. Instructions are on the web page. Password activation information can be found here: https://accounts.nd.edu/activation

Non-degree seeking students (new and returning):

  1. Complete the Summer Session application (which includes the courses that you plan to take) in order to register for courses. This will trigger the Summer Session office to send you your 900xxxxx identification number needed to apply for housing and meal plans. Summer Session link: http://www.nd.edu/~sumsess/

  3. Complete the summer housing application by logging into insideND on the Notre Dame Website (You will need your 900xxxxxx number to complete this task.) Summer Housing: http://summerhousing.nd.edu/
  4. Complete the meal plan application by logging into insideND on the Notre Dame Website. (You will need your 900xxxxxx number to complete this task.) Meal Plans: http://food.nd.edu/mealplans/
  5. Non-degree students are not required to obtain Health Insurance from Notre Dame, but are required to return a completed History and Physical Form before they report for registration. Students who have been accepted will receive a packet of information through the mail, including this History and Physical Form. If the person is deficient in providing this documentation they are prevented from registering for classes until the requirements are met.

After the application process is completed:

Visit the M.A. (Theology) website to upload the syllabi for the various courses that you will take. Purchase the texts for the course and begin to read for the courses. Because of the intensity of the summer courses, you will need to read as much of the assigned readings as possible before you arrive.

Upon Arrival At The university of notre Dame, Department of Theology:

  1. Check into your assigned dorm room and unpack clothes, books, etc.
  2. Complete “Web Enrollment” for your courses by going online to insideND.
  3. Pick up orientation information from the Theology office
  4. Get a parking sticker (if needed) at the Security Building
  5. Visit the Student Accounts Office (100 Main Building) to pay the balance of your bill
  6. New student ID cards are issued in the ID Card Services office. Please bring a government issued picture ID or passport. In addition to a photo ID, your University ID Number is required for all new student ID cards. If the card is lost or stolen, there is a $30.00 fee for its replacement. If a card becomes unusable due to normal wear and tear, it will be replaced at no charge.

During the Summer Session

At some point during your stay on campus, check in with your area advisor about your progress in the program. If you do not know who your advisor is, please visit the Theology office.
