Lunch Discussion: "The Challenge of Peace: God's Promise and our Response"

-

Location: Geddes Hall Coffee House

The Center for Social Concerns is hosting Gerard Powers, the Director for Catholic Peacebuilding Studies for the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies. He will speak on the 1983 U.S. Bishops Peace Pastoral, “The Challenge of Peace: God’s Promise and our Response.” The 1983 peace pastoral is considered a seminal document on the ethics of war and peace. Why did this document merit such wide acclaim and have such global reach at the time? To what extent is it relevant to today’s challenges of peace?

A simple lunch will be provided.
